Wali’sstudio was commissioned by the reputable Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens RATP, the international French establish company for public transportation, to rebrand line 3 metro stations. We are very delighted to start with Heliopolis metro to create a unique customer experience across several touch points in the metro station. As we have been always introducing the rebranding of the Egyptian heritage across Egypt and many markets of the world. Being engaged from the start with our creative research, interviews with dedicated Egyptologists. Heliopolis, also named as “the city of the sun” has been through a very long age since Ancient Egyptians as the first lighthouse for university in human mankind. Also, it is where the the Holy Family resided. Across the years, Heliopolis became a melting for the beautiful mix eras that the Egyptian character went through. With this vast history, where first it was only located in Matareya and Ein Shams, in the modern times it was also named as Masr El Gedida or the new Cairo for the many resemblance it has. Since we decided to take on this huge responsibility of translating all this history into art. First, The columns shed light on the diverse architectural wealth of Heliopolis and helps identify the different cultures that were once present in this diversity. To embody the glory of Heliopolis, we have had to experiment, handcraft both its Arabic and English fonts in order to do pay justice to our heritage. The colour palette was carefully selected to match the vibrance and liveliness of Heliopolis. When going on line 3 you’re not only embarking on your daily journey but rather a journey through time. Much like Egypt, our designs have been heavily influenced by the different eras that range from the Coptic era, Islamic era and even the ancient era. Each one having a vital role in shaping the Egypt we know today, we took their essence and created a design that will speak and resonate with people from all walks of life.
